Idea for our services: live translation on every guest's phone

Hi everyone,

I'd love for us to look at live translation for our services. SermonLingo lets our speaker talk as normal while guests follow along on their own phones, with live captions and an optional AI voice in their language. They scan a QR code: no app, no account and no receivers to borrow. Guests who listen can bring their own earphones.

Why it matters: people who speak another language could follow the whole message together with the rest of the church, instead of sitting through a service they can't understand.

What it costs: we can use a laptop and a suitable feed from our microphone or mixer. Plans are based on translation hours per language, with unlimited listeners. Plans start at $5 per hour per language for captions, or $99 a month with 25 hours and the AI voice included.

How to try it: start with 4 free translation hours and rehearse with our own audio and languages. Each target language uses translation time. See the scripted listener demo here: https://sermonlingo.com/live/demo

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things churches ask before their first Sunday. Don't see yours? We're happy to walk through your setup.

Still have a question?

See it with your own audio setup, or hear it on your phone right now.

“where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”

Matthew 18:20
Do listeners need to download an app?

No. Guests scan a QR code or open a link in the browser they already have. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

What equipment do we need?

A laptop or phone with a microphone is enough to start. For the clearest sound, send a feed from your sound desk into your computer, or stream audio over RTMP from OBS, vMix or your encoder.

How many people can listen at once?

As many as you like. Every plan includes unlimited listeners, so the price doesn't change with attendance.

How many languages can we offer at the same time?

Up to 8 listener languages per service. Each guest picks the language they want on their own phone.

Which languages are supported?

Captions work in 50+ languages, including Spanish, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, Vietnamese, Amharic and Swahili. A natural AI voice is available in 13 of them, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Hindi.

How fast do captions appear?

Usually a second or two after the words are spoken. Translation follows the speaker phrase by phrase, so listeners stay with the room instead of waiting for whole paragraphs.

Can we show captions on our screens or livestream?

Yes. Stage display mode shows up to four languages side by side on a projector or TV. The OBS overlay adds captions to your livestream on a transparent background, and you can embed live captions on your website.

How does billing work?

You pay for translation hours: the time someone is speaking, counted for each listener language. Listeners are unlimited, and silence, songs and music don't count. Every account starts with 4 free hours.

Can we try it before paying?

Yes. Sign in with Google and your first 4 translation hours are free, with no card required. You can also open the live demo on your phone first.

How is our audio handled?

Each service runs in its own private room with its own link. Audio is sent for translation while you are live, and listeners join without accounts, so they never share an email address or password.

Is the translated voice a real person?

No. It is a natural AI voice, and listeners are told so. It adapts to the pace and tone of whoever is speaking but does not clone anyone's voice, and captions are always there alongside it.

Still have a question?

We'll walk through your setup with you.
